Myth #1: Electricity is too expensive, compared with other fuels.
Wrong! For the average home brewer in the United States, it is less expensive to brew using electricity as a source of energy. We estimate an upper limit of $2 for a 5-gallon batch,
but you should normally see about half that much. Other fuels used for brewing are far more expensive, so let's take a look at why. First let's see how much energy is required to brew a batch
of beer, then we will try to estimate the costs using other fuels. I will try to keep the equations and numbers to a minimum, but they will be at the end of each section for all you techies
out there.
Overview:
- How much ENERGY does it take to make a batch of beer?
- Comparison of electricity to natural gas and propane.
- Brewing beer vs other household appliances.
